The Golden Era is a time and period that defines a generation in music… Just so happens that goes synonymous with rap/hip-hop. The culture changes every decade or so, old players remain the same trying to adapt to what is now a young players game.

The GEMTAPE combines the ‘eras’ of the past and the new from the overlooked city of Jersey City, NJ. Where the city is known for its trap aesthetic. I challenged those MCs as well as tapping into the MCs that get overlooked because they don’t fall into any particular genre. Artists like Clinton LG, Lachy Osirus, Verbal Phantom, Nizz Sentine and the list goes on.

So the challenge was to pick from 3 beats that they were presented with. The artist picks one and it’s the artists decision to make it a freestyle or make it their own song and each artist delivered. On the GEMTAPE, expect every artist to give the world a taste of their god given skills and a visual of where we come from.
